Interesting Band Dilemma

I play in a blues band and we are all (except the mid-30's singer) in our 40's and 50's. The guitar player is in 3 bands, the drummer is in 2 bands. I do a bit of jobbing as does the harmonica player. We all communicate with each other about our booked gigs so that there are no surprises. We also have a number of "qualified" substitute players who KNOW OUR MATERIAL so that if we need somebody, we have no problem finding somebody.

In our area, most of the blues players consider ourselves to be part of a "community" and we all help each other out whenever we can. The exposure is good for everybody and the comraderie that has evolved has been invaluable. I think the key is communicating.
