Interesting Fender at GC

So I'm poking around GC in Hollywood today, trying to escape my hangover, when something catches my eye. Its a Fender six string with a $7300 price tag. I should've played it but didn't feel like trying to hear it above the racket that is Guitar Center on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, anyone ever seen/played one of these? Is it a custom shop instrument or were these production at some point? I can't imagine it would actually be worth the $7300, except maybe to a collector, but that's just me.

I've seen Tye Zamora's bass, it is a Fender but not a traditional fender body shape. This looks like a widened jazz bass, and has a traditional Fender headstock. Looks like the electronics on this bass might be the same as Tye's.

Well it's a custom shop creation so it doesn't need to be any existing model. My guess is it's a variation of that guys signature. Hard to say without the headstock.

not the same bass, but similar. the knobs and input jack seem to be in different positions

Yeah and stripes are a bit different too, but similar. But just look at that thing! It's GORGEOUS! And it's a REAL bass! (all real basses have 5 or more strings) And it says FENDER on the headstock! OK, maybe not worth seven grand, but it sure looks like something in the multi-grand range to me!

Guitar Center would be the last place I would go to hungover.

+2 the kid would get through a few notes of Sunshine Of You Love before I wrapped the Shecter around his neck and rammed him through the Marshall! :D

$7300? Do they charge extra for the missing knob?

typical GC move - a little extra step for an overall package not taken!

I thought it was all Korn & junk like that.

Any tune by Cream, played at a GC would seem to me...a bit of a relief.

:D I might be showing my age . . . been a while since I stomached going into a music store! I play a gig once a month near a GC and catch it right before it closes so it's usually empty . . . other than that it's on-line w/ good return policies!
