interesting heel on MTD-535

I'll record some clips in the next week or so. The ash neck is great. Ash being what it is, you can feel the grain a bit. I like this. It is like playing a wenge neck. This neck is really perfect (since each is hand carved, they are all slightly different) - it sets up super low and super flat. The combination of ash and maple is very responsive.

Ahhhh. Like wenge! I'm actually sorta relieved about that because I just had a custom Sei made for me and I think the new ash necked MTDs could be something I'm looking for sound-wise. BUT I really don't like the feel of wenge. So I can let the GAS pains die and move on! :)

When I say Wenge I mean only that you can feel some grain. It is not like maple (glass like). You can feel little idiosyncracies in the wood. This is a feel that I really like. I have an MTD 435 fretlss that has a Wenge neck and also a 435 with a maple neck - I love them all. I couldn't compare the Wenge to the ash in terms of sound - the rest of the bass is so different
