INTERFACE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IPAD

quick question.. wanted to know what would be recommended to use for ipad air 2 with garage band to record bass tracks with

wanting to start doin some home recording when i cant make it to my usual recording facility.. do stuff here at home and send the file over

That is an interesting interface! Works standalone also like a little mixer.

You didn't say anything about what you want to invest. You can use most USB-interfaces that work with native drivers. My 10 years old Alesis io2 works powered by a usb-hub.
If you want comfort, you should only look at Interfaces that have a power-supply and are not usb-powered only.
I'm using a SPL Crimson. It's a bit pricey at about 500,- but has 4 ins or 6 counting the digital input. I love it 'cause it works as a standalone solution (it's a monitor controler, too) and I don't have to change connections all the time. Love the possibility to listen to 3 extra-sources and have 2 different monitor-mixes and 2 headphone outs. The audio quality is very high.

Maybe it's just me, but I hate Garageband for iOs. If you have the 20,- bucks, I'd highly recommend Auria. It has a lot of possibilities and is very user-friendly (I'm a DAW-hater). I want to make music, not search for functions in sub-sub-menues. Auria allows you to record more than just two tracks at a time. I nearly always use at least 4 tracks. I record a DI-signal with Compressor and a bit of EQ and use a stereo-track to record with effects.

I am using the "Apogee JAM 96k". It goes for around $130-150. Sound quality is excellent. Never had a problem with it - using almost daily for over a year for practicing and recording. Like the previous poster, I recommend Auria for recording. Also, check out Anytune Pro for practicing along with tracks.

I've been using a Presonus Audiobox iTwo and Presonus Capture for doing simple two-input field recording in my iPad. Works well. Dump the recordings onto your desktop after the fact and use your DAW of choice.

I use an Apogee Jam96K and also a Focusrite Itrack Solo. They both work great, but the Itrack Solo gives you the options to run your nearfields from the interface. So, I tend to use that more.

This is very useful. My Presonus unit allows for this functionality as well, so if I absolutely need monitors instead of just using headphones, I'll pack them up in their travel cases and am good to go.

I'm considering buying an iConnect myself, but am still shopping for my final decision on an interface.

I want to be able to connect a desktop PC with recording inputs, and use iPad / iPhone both as audio played through my monitor speakers, and as recording sources fed into whichever DAW I end up with.
