International Friendship for the Future

My brother came to me the other night with an idea for a non-profit organization and I think he might really have something here.

Recently my brother, Matt, got back from a 3-week trip to South Africa. One day he visited Robben Island (Nelson Mandela was imprisoned here). A former inmate now works there, imforming visitors of the island and it's history. When Matt was there, this man said that the youth are the future. Now, who hasn't heard that before? But they way he explained, it really spoke to Matt and really made him ponder.

He realized that all these adults are running the world, and international relationships suck. However, think of a young kid, no matter where he or she is from. A young kid doesn't care about the differences in people. He or she doesn't say, "Oh, your from this country", or "Your of this race or religion," and says,"I hate you".

So the name of this organization would most likely be called "International Friendship for the Future" or "IFF". It would promote peace, tolerance, and friendship amongst all the countries of the world, mostly the world's youth. To me, it seems like the ultimate result would be World Peace. Maybe it's possible afterall:hyper: There is already an idea for an ad campaign. it would be along the lines of "What IFF. . .(something)?"

In order for this to happen, Matt needs to find a represenitive(someone willing to stand up and to support this cause and represent his or her country) from every single country on earth, no nation(s) can be left out. Unfortunately, Matt is a very busy college student and finding all the people necessary will take a lot of time and effort. But Matt is extremely confident that he can make this change and he knows A LOT of people willing to participate.

I want to support him as best I can. I already came up with a simple idea for a logo. Since he's busy, I'm rying to get the word out there. Let me know what you think. Thank you!

I think you need to do a lot of resaerch in setting up an international charity organisation. In short, you will need probably hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of legal advice across all jurisdictions for something like this to work. You would need to register your logo as a trademark and your business names in all of those jurisdictions and get the relevant tax exemptions from the local tax authorities. Basically, you will need to get someone who is prepared to pay all this money up front so you can get set up. Until you are set up, none of the donations are tax deductible. They you also have to worry about the competition from the other large charities who are all working super hard to make sure that money that could go to you, will go to them.

Basically, running charties is a very tought business and there is some very ruthless competition out there. Unless you are truely financially able and willing to see this through to the end, you will almost certainly end up broke and without a charity. FWIW.

This is what it would do. Most likely the best idea for this would be to raise money to promote feeding the hungry and promoting peace. Since you opened this up in a community of musicians, promotional concerts would also be a very good idea.

I'm definitely interested to see where this will go. If it takes off, I'm going to be interested in advocating. :)

That's what I'm talking about. He mentioned the end, but not the means.
