Hello Bassists! I don't know if I've introduced myself before or not. I think not.

I mainly play double bass but I also like to play electric bass a lot, which I used to do much more some years ago before I switched over to mainly focus on double bass.

I've been thinking about since I don't have a P-bass, on how to best get an P-bass tone on a fender jazz-bass?

If it's old-school thump you want, I'd start with flatwound strings (LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass probably) and a foam mute at the bridge.
