Invaders must die sound issue

If this is not in the right place feel free to move it.

Right, the band I'm in is trying to play "Invaders Must Die" by the Prodigy. Were getting on fine but one bit really keeps on annoying me:

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die [HQ] High Quality Sound - YouTube

The change in the baselines sound at ~0.15. I can't seem to replicate it.

The best I can do is keep the neck bridge low and then play much closer to the bridge to get a "crisper"(?) sound.

For effects I've only got a Big Muff (and I love it!) Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks in advance :bassist:

There is quite a bit of production on the bass instrument in the intro.

Lots of effects, but I'd guess auto-wah/envelope filter, bandpass or low pass filter, some overdrive, and some reverb.

Sad to say, you aren't probably going to be able to coax those sounds out of your bass and Big Muff alone. In fact, a lot of the bass in this song sounds synthesized to me.

It sounds like an awesome song to cover, but rather than obsessing over how to cover the sound just right, I'd recommend focusing your creativity on how to create your own version of the song, or even to write a song similar to this one. :bassist:

Check out Invalid Link Removed cover. In a comment the poster says he used a Boss SYB-5 on the bass. Maybe look into that if you think his version comes close.

Yeah I enjoy coming up with new sounds myself. Don't think I'll be getting the SYB-5 not a sound I think I'd use much :D

The covers good but I play it slightly defferent think I'll play with the pickup volume balances.
Thanks for the help :bassist:
