iPhone 4S cases

I'd say that as a general conversation the best case for any smart-phone regardless of manufacturer is the one which gives the least likelihood of dropping the device. For me that's the number one shopping criteria.

iJazz - I don't drop.

Yo, dude don't upgrade! The iPhone 5 is right around the corner. Probably 2 months times or so. Rumors put it around August or September. That's what I'm waiting for.

I remember hearing that last month, and the month before, and even last year.. Someday it'll happen.

I have had silicon cases, the Book Book (which te novelty wears off a bit), and currently an Otterbox. I'm really craving the new Life cases though.

After the last thread on this came up, I replace my Otterbox with a Lifeproof. Expensive, but worth it IMO.

Yeah, my Dad just replaced his Otterbox with the Lifeproof case too. Definitely a better case in my opinion, though it probably doesn't offer quite as much protection against shock, it's certainly more practical.

It does muffle the sound a little though. If you're looking for a case for protection, check them out.

RE: Shock protection - It seems to do okay here. I've dropped my phone a couple times now with no damage to phone or case.
RE: Sound - I find that it doesn't muffle the sound at all, in fact it's designed to amplify it. If you play a song, you can feel the back of the case vibrate to increase bass response.

These are both just my experience/opinion. YMMV.

LMAO. I was just about to take a pic of my iphone case with my iphone in it. I fail.

EDIT: I have one of these. The pieces come off like lego. Mine's black red and grey.

A common reply from the Apple crowd.

It's comin' ya'll! I can FEEL it *scratches neck*

I have an elago slimfit case. The one I have is an almost rubberized outer feel so it's not slippery, the one I had previous to this was some ultra thin plastic that was really slick (always felt like I was going to drop it) and cracked really easily. The elago has lasted very well and provides a good grip. It doesn't cover the front in any way and is pretty slim so it won't do much if you drop your phone often, but I've been fortunate enough to have only dropped this one on carpet thus far. My storm 2 I dropped on pavement so many times I stopped counting, but that thing was built like a brick and never complained.

edit: i have this one

I have an otterbox, two silicone ebay ones, the book book, and some others.

It's currently in one of the silicone. The otterbox is too thick, the book book useless for me as I can't just use that and no wallet which defeats the purpose.

I usually just use it with no case at all, just a front and back protector. The only reason it's in a case is because I work outside during the summer.
