iPhone - Weird notifications count?

iPhone 4 on Verizon

I noticed this on Friday:

On my phone when there's a new post in a subscribed thread or any reason for me to receive a notification, the counter is completely off. For example, I'd have one unread post and the app would show "24" on it.

Now what I've noticed throughout the weekend is, it seems to be adding to that everytime. So, on Friday it was saying 23 or so, now it's up to around 40. Everytime I receive a notification it just adds that to the number it displayed previously.

I may be explaining this horribly. Here's the screenshot I took on Friday -

Those things were erroneous so often that I just turned them off. There are lots of problems with the app accurately displaying the "read threads" count internally too, for me.

Hmm...mine had always been accurate up until now. Weird. Up to 51 btw...
