I just discovered a Spector NS-94 on the local gumtree and it is selling for $400 ^^^in mint condition with hardcase, lead and strap. I know nothing about the NS-94, does it have the small lightweight feeling of the other spectors, and the smaller head. This is my first bass buy and am wondering if it's worth it? It's obviously an old bass does this matter? I want to know as much info as possible..

Is it worth $400 with a hardcase?

I own a NS-94. Very well made bass. Great price for one in mint condition. Fast fairly narrow neck.

I haven't tried one before but have fallen ^^^in love with the Spector performer and Spector legend classic series...does it feel anything like these? Does it have a small body shape and speedy neck? May I link the website I'm talking about?

body size is a little bigger in the booty, neck is a little thicker front to back, neck through, i believe it weighs probably around 8.5 to 9. solid maple :) but like lima said, neck is narrow and fast. played like a dream. i had an ns-95 :'( and i miss it. one of these days ill convince myself i need another 5 string. but yeah man, go for it. link the site!

It's a series higher. The NS-94/5 came out when there were just US basses and the Korean NS-94/5 basses. These were a modified NS body shape (slightly longer upper horn, not as carved or bowed. Still very comfy but slightly larger over all). They are very high quality Korean basses, NT, brass nut, emg Hz pups, emg pre. All maple body and 3 pc maple neck I believe. These basses later became the NS2000 series. I would compair it to a NT schecter, NT esp bass now but better quality overall. It's a really good bass. My NS2000 makes my rebop take a back seat and is my back up for my euro dougie in my sig. I have emg 35 p/j pups and a tone pump in mine. Good stuff.

The blue one is my NS2000, the same as the NS 94/5 next to my rebop (std NS body style) to give you an idea. The green one is my euro dougie (ns2 body shape)

I'd recommend that buy. I have a Spector NS95 (the five string model) and it's a great bass, the best one I own as a matter of fact. You'd spend at least double that price if not more getting anything new that's even close.

They started out asking $1300 and have been steadily dropping their BIN. Sam Ash has a nice NS-95 for $549.99 that has gone unsold for over a month.

As for the NS-94, I'd have already bought it for $400 if it is really "mint."
