I got a trivia question. Years ago I used to gig with a drummer who'd spent time in New Orleans and told a story about the origin of the term Funk as a musical genre. According to him the drummer for a certain band was asked what kind of music they played. He replied, "The kind of music that make you dance 'til your butt gets funky." Anyone know this story and who the drummer and band was? And is it really the first time anyone talked about "Funky" music? My recollection is that it was a NOLA band and I been racking my brain but this piece of trivia seems long departed from my grey matter.....like so much is these days.
