Is it me or Netflix - the frutiless Netflix scroll

I’ve dropped Netflix for exactly that reason. They’ve figured out how to drop a deluge of new shows but none of them looks interest to me. I’ll re-up when the final season of Ozark drops, maybe also Stranger Things. I don’t have the time or interest in trying to figure out if I’ll like every new thing they throw at us. It’s too much.

I watched a few episodes of the Ozarks. I stopped watching when I realized i didn't care about any of the characters. Especially the central family.

Boomer here--when I was young, all 3 channels had something that I wanted to watch at the same time. Now thousands of channels and nothing of interest.

While I'm complaining about TV, why does every series of any type degenerate to a soap opera by the second season?

I find that no matter how much I enjoy a show, I wind up bailing within the first few episodes of the second season of pretty much any show. The exception was Sons of Anarchy.

For some reason, I hate-watched every last minute of Sons of Anarchy, no matter how bad it got, until the very final scene, which was possibly the crowning jewel of all-time terrible tv moments.

Pfft. Gen Xer here, from NZ.
When I were a lad, we had TV1 and TV2, and I remember the transition in the TV guide from noting that a show was in colour, to noting the ones that were still in B&W.

I still remember being confused by "Stars on Sunday" as a small child, and the dawning realisation that it wasn't a TOTP thing. It was a complication of church music.

Definitely.

It's becoming harder and harder to find quality in their offerings.

It's full of local in-house programs, from countries around Europe. I won't mention names, but the shows are usually very poor.

90% is unwatchable.

The problem is that we are flooded with content across multiple services. More than any other time in history. And it can't all be good. Most of it is going to be bad or just OK at best. It's hard to find the gems. I usually rely on personal recommendations or reviewers/podcasters I trust.

I saw a joke somewhere (maybe the Onion) where Netflix should just offer a pricing tier where you get to scroll, but you can't watch anything.

There display of content leaves a lot to be desired, I found a few suprises buried in the "you might also like" finding things by accident isnt my idea of organized, it could be better.

quite frankly I get frustrated with that system and then loose interest.

Looking for something to watch the other day - I fire up Netflix.

After 20 minutes of scrolling and not finding anything interesting I end up just re-watching a movie I've seen before on broadcast TV. This not the first time I've done this. Would probably cancel my subscription if it wasn't for others on my account that do watch it. At least they tell me they watch it.

I initially signed up to watch "Lillyhammer", which I enjoyed and later watched the original 5 seasons of "Schitt's Creek". I think The Irishman is the only movie I can remember watching on Netflix.

Anyone else do the Netflix scroll and give up without actually watching anything?

I hear ya.

One cool thing about Netflix I found (that you can't do with Amazon) is

Go to Search:
Instead of typing in an actors name or genre, just type in one letter ie "S":
It will bring up all movies starting with that letter. You may come across a few gems this way.
