Is it normal for a Peavey Cirrus have this dull sound?

I have a peavey cirrus. I love it, i bought it second hand from a bass collector online. In my mind Cirrus have that zing or modern hi-fi tone, but once i played mine i don't find any like that. I use a Foundations Strings 45-125, kinda old honestly but when i change the strings for the first time it still doesn't have that modern tone. Can someone suggest me what to do now? In the audio i attached the first fingerstyle and slap sound i use all flat on the onboard EQ, the last slap lines have maxed Treble, the others are flat. Help meee...Also, i found that 1st and 2nd strings have less volume even when i changed it to new strings...i tried to adjust the pickup height but no significant changes

Dunno. It's sounds pretty bright to me. Not dull at all. The Cirrus does have a baked in sound though. Try different strings. Does the preamp have adjustable frequency trim pots?

Hi DWBass, no it doesn't have adjustable frequency trim pots...anyway what do you mean by baked in sound?

Sounds like a Cirrus to me. They aren't zingy or modern like a Stingray.

The Cirrus has a unique preamp pretty close to the Ken Smith preamp which is also a unique preamp. They sound like no other basses. You can hear that midrange bark especially when slapping.

It sounds like a cirrus and your strings sound on the older side to me
