Is it possible to hook a head up to a power amp?

I think the point many of us are making is to make sure he understands the signal-flow employed here. It sounds like he doesn't quite have his ducks in a row in this regard and that can be a problem. It's not that he can't do that, but we're all just kind of policing it! No offenses meant, but no presumptions are being made either.

What if he were to write back saying he'd toasted his amp? Then we'd maybe feel a little remiss...

EDIT: We didn't say that (I don't think)- just that he can't go to another power amp from the Superfly's speaker-out.

I understand what you are saying.

And, I agree that it sounds as if the OP does not have his ducks in row.

Only point I was making is that the OP needs to know that when hooked up as described, he will have two active cabinet power sources available if necessary.

I also strongly suggest that the OP finds someone in his local area to assist him and talk him through/show him the set up step by step to avoid confusion.

Yup and yup. And he's got a good idea, long as he doesn't mind carting it around!

And Edit... I've done similar with my SM400. Very handy to have routing options available.

This has got me interested in trying my F1 as a preamp. Since the effects send is pre eq, I would have to use the balanced DI, which is post eq. The output is listed as 10Vpp max. Is that enough to drive my Carvin 1540L ?

I looked through the manual, but I did'nt see anything about minimum voltage input to drive the amp. Guess I'll just have to hook it up and see. The F1 actually weighs less than my BBE preamp!

I have my Acoustic B200H amp head into a Yamaha power amp into 2 cabs. But I borrowed a power amp and had a friend that knows this stuff hook it all up first. It worked great, so I bought the Yamaha amp and set it all up the same way.
