Double Bass is it worth

Hello,I want to buy a new DB.I'm outside the US and I find upton bass is good.here is a problem:I'd like to buy a standard bass for 2000 but the ship to my country is cost another 1000, is half price of the bass!!So I'm wondering is it worth 3000 to buy a UB standard bass?
or I should buy the other bass that I can buy easily in my country(like Shen bass, it has dealer near to my home)?
