Is Lakland a good brand ?

I was just wondering if a Fender Jazz Bass or A Lakland are in the same class, or if Lakland is a good brand
if so please tell me which model is good for the price range of $1500 - 1750

Sorry about laughing. Lakland is an EXCELLENT brand! Considering what you asked in your post, check the Joe Osborn signature model. It's bases on the Jazz bass, and a great bass to boot.

Lakland is one of the best quality basses out there IMO. The build quality is some of the best I've felt in my hands. There's few bass companies that have consistant quality as Lakland does, and usually you have to fork over more than $2,000 for the basic model. You can get a nice 55-02 in that price range and still have some money left over.

Laklands are not good....they are superb. Skylines are a great deal, but you knew that by now.

They are excellent.

I own a Fender Custom Shop 64' Jazz Bass and a Lakland US Bob Glaub and the build quality of the Glaub is superior. Both basses are great by the way, but if I had it to do over again, I would've bought a USA JO over the Fender any day.

I like to think of them as the "new pre-cbs Fender".

I would start at your local dealer and compare the two....American Fenders are spotty (some good quality and some bad)....I have NEVER played a bad Lakland...and (I am starting to sound like a broken recod....but here goes...................) SERVICE is where Lakland REALLY shines! IF (and I do mean IF) something goes wrong, Lakland WILL fix it - no questions asked....and ...............if you want to change something (a neck etc), they WILL work with you....a better group of people you will not find!

also - they offer upgrades to their basses - not many companies do that!!!!

I have owned Fenders an Laklands and (as you can see from my signature) I am now dedicated to Lakland!!!!

As far as "the Jazz for you..."...it all depends on the tone and feel you want - the JO is closer in size to an actual Jazz and has a definate 60s feel to it.....the DJ is a LITTLE smaller and has a more aggressive sound.......

I feel Laklands are superior to US Fenders (but I do not want to side track this thread into a Fender v Lakland argument)......as for cost, you can get a new Skyline JO or SkylineDJ well in that price range....a used one will cost less.....

Lakland's USA made basses are in a class way above Fender USA.

I bought both of my new Laklands from BassNW and they are VERY fair.......
