Is My Amp Loud Enough?

MIJ-VI - thanks for the info. i DID read the manuals for my gear (i'm very aware of the whole RTFM issue, i've worked in IT), but sometimes it helps a LOT to have people that know what they're doing give you advice. the "accidental mid scooping" i was doing is something that wouldn't have been readily apparent perusing manuals. but that's why these forums are here right?

thanks again everybody.

Yup! That's what draws me here! TalkBass: Info-tainment. :D

wooph. that's a LOT of help. you guys rock. hell, you ROKK. so much nicer than thread sites where you post a question 9 or 300 times before anybody decides to offer up some useful bits. thanks so much.

i was looking at the Para Driver, and i DO like it. i think i got the mid's back and it feels like the setup i'm using is WAY more better by cutting the Bass and Treble settings back like MIJ-VI suggested. i think i have the problem sorted. wonderful. again, ROKK. like BIRDS.

should i start another topic? i had a question about people's experiences with pedal tuner's; what they like best / put it in the efx chain or separate it?

thanks again!

LOWTONEJOE - how big a speaker cab were you running? what wattage and at what ohms power amp? what kind of preamp? i just replaced 3 or 4 things that were fill-ins for what i wanted on my board so i now have Sansamp -> Hot Cake -> Micro Q-Tron -> Big Muff (Bass) PI -> Geiger Counter (BEAST) -> DL4

The cab is a single 15. The make and model are Bag End S15-CUS Rated at 200wrms.

The amp is a QSC RMX850. It was bridged mono for 530wrms.

The preamp is a Tech 21 Sansamp Programmable BDDI.

That's all there was. It is a great sounding rig. If I were you I might consider putting the BDDI last in your signal chain to ensure that the power amp is getting a strong enough signal.

:D

Joe.

JOE - that's funny. i just did that today. i realized i was going sorta bass-ackwards on the order.

the power amp i'm using right now sends out 600 watts rms stereo and 900 watts rms into 4 ohms, that's why i was freaking out about my loudness. adjusting the (relative) mids up helped, and i actually moved the Sansamp to the end of the chain so i'd have a post-efx DI out. i was gonna go buy another DI.... and that's just silly.

love when the brain just freezes up. good times, good times.
