Double Bass Is my Markbass rig acceptable for Upright?

I currently play through a Markbass Little Mark 3, into a 104HR
cab. This gives me a huge bassy tone for when I play electric, but I have just purchased my first upright and am going to have gigs with both a jazz band and a bluegrass band. I am afraid that the natural boominess of the Markbass is going to be overkill for the upright.

I'm kind of in the same situation. I play a Markbass F1 and either a Bergantino AE210 or AE410 while playing BG. I've got an upton rev solo II on my Shen SB80, and have tried running it a few times through my F1 and AE210. I bought an Fdeck HPF and it helped a little, but doesn't sound as natural as I would like. I recently read here somewhere that sticking a little foam in the port of my AE210 would help dampen the boomy lows. I haven't tried that yet, but maybe that would help you?

All the Markbass amps has 500Kohm input impedance, so you need a buffer preamp.

I have had pretty good luck with the Markbass CMD1210 with the XLR input. Not as nice as powered speaker for microphone, but the EQ section is good enough I can make it work.

I have no piezo pickups, so I've never tried into the 1/4" input. I'm sure you would need a preamp for impedence matching.

I play my Kay upright through the Markbass mini combo 121 amp and I Love it! Warm pure bass sound and no need for a pick up. In fact I just played a fundraiser gig with my jazz combo group and a veteran bass player who was in attendance made a point to come to talk to me about my sound and my amp. Weighs only 29lbs so for me ( 4 foot 10 female), its very easy to cart around. Also purchased a mark bass portable tilt back stand for it.

What kind of mics are you running into the XLR in of the Markbass, and are you using a preamp?

How is the sound quality and volume level before feedabck?

I hear different amplified uprights week after week and Markbass amps are some of the best I've heard. Couple that with how great they are for electric and you have a great amp for doubling on both. imo

I would like some advice. I'm playing in small jazz combos in small venues I have a little Mark lll into a MarkBass cabinet, I forget the model. The 400w one.
And a David Gage copper head.
The sound is boxy.The eq is flat.
Do I need a pre amp? is this an impedance issue? Or eq?
I have Kaplan strings. These are Classical strings, but I play more Classical so do not wish to use hybrids.

My Markbass LMII was my go-to amp head for the upright for many years.
My Fishman Full Circle did pickup not sound the best, going straight in. I mostly used the blending unit for my Bieselse magnetic pickup. The fDeck preamp also worked. Some kind of preamp with a high pass filter and phase switching would be advisable.

I used a Little Mark ii and Traveler 2x10 with a Upton Rev solo pickup and Fdeck pre for years in all sorts of settings. It may take different or more drastic eq settings on upright than electric, but it's definitely workable. The key for me was the Fdeck pre...huge difference. It doesn't shape the tone, it just makes everything work better together. I normally turned the VLE and VPF off and left bass flat, cut treble slightly, and tweaked the mids to the room.
