Is my pickup fixable?

I have the SD spb-4 installed in my partcaster bass. Yesterday I was playing it for a bit, put it down to eat dinner, and came back only to find out that something was wrong. The pole for the D string stopped working, for lack of better term. The only reason there's sound for that string is from the other poles. I know there are hundreds of forums for this, but I don't know where to start. I've never seen this before. Can anyone link some discussions or better yet any explanations? Cheers.

First make sure it's the pickup that's the problem. Do all the strings (including D string) sound fine unplugged? I'd consider trying a new set, just in case (it's cheap to try). I'd also try swapping the two pickup halves, to see if this moves the problem to the E string (or if you can flip just the DG side, then the problem should shift to the G string).

If none of that clarifies/solves the problem, it's probably the pickup. I'd say it's not the winding/wiring, because that should affect at least two strings. So I'm thinking the problem could be the magnets, I'm just not sure how this would've happened while you were having dinner... Did you rest the bass close to another magnet? :) I'm sure there are other ways to demagnetize poles/magnets, or maybe the problem is elsewhere - hope more knowledgeable people can chime in.

If that's the case, it may just require re-magnetizing. I'm not sure if that's easily done at home, but you could contact SD for input and repair estimate.
