Is Recording Yourself Really Necessary?

I have the Samson CO1U as a spare, you can get them for $50 on ebay, and they get their phantom power through the USB port. Not a bad mic actually.

Do you have Rockband for the 360? The mic in there is actually halfway decent. Plenty good enough for scratch tracks and self critique.

A SM57 isn't really an ideal mic for recording bass...it will work but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one for that specific purpose. If you're playing really loud you might try a AKG D112, but if you are trying to get a good quality recording your best bet would be a condenser mic instead of a dynamic mic.

A 57 isn't bad at all for recording a bass amp. I've used it many times with great success. Having said that, I finally dropped decent money on a Heil PR 40. I know some people like the D112, but it's so scooped that I can't hang with it.

I dont even HAVE a 360. Nor do I plan on getting one lol
