I am in the same situation a couple of months ago. Tried every pickup configuration except jazz configuration cause I think it would suck. Go figure! I only own one bass right now and it is a Sadowsky jazz..

Haha! You're right and wrong at the same time. I think I meant to say the whole jazz bass design and function. But yes, even a Skyline is a huge leap forward in quality from a MIM Fender.

I'm kind of in the mode now where I want just one bass (weird, huh?). I get confused when I own too many different styles of basses. If I'm correct about my inclination toward the Joe Osborn, I may just sell all three and buy a USA Joe Osborn as my main bass.

You could do a lot worse.

There is something wrong with me.

The building I work in is right next to a highway offramp. I can see it from one of my coworkers office windows. Occasionally, at the end of the offramp there will be a poor soul standing there with all his/her possessions at their feet and holding a cardboard sign with a message scratched on it asking for help. I should be ashamed of myself for complaining about such nice instruments that I own when there are countless others in this situation.

My first bass was an MIM P-Bass, which broke, so now I have to play other basses until I can get a new neck for it. I've also realized that there was just somethng about it. I wasn't crazy about the sound, but it just felt so right. Even with all of its faults.

I think that we're like that because it was the bass we learned how to play on. Kind of like learning a language. English is my first language and I'm most comfortble with it, just like I'm most comfortable with my P-Bass.

Funny, in the "if you won the lottery" thread yesterday I mentioned the Joe Osborn as my ultimate need-one-only GAS bass. Good choice man - it is beauty incarnate.
