I've also seen this on my Soviet classical guitar. It's very stable and sounds great, but no one brags about it since it's a student model from the other side of the Iron Curtain. Some current Martin guitars are also made this way, but they don't sound as good to me.But many German basses/guitars of the '60s also had that kind of neck construction. The Japanese manufacturers got the idea from Framus, Klira, Hopf, etc. In fact, Hopf even patented the "Everstraight" laminated neck.
