    Hi.
I am a new member of Talk Bass and this is my first post. I didn't know where to post this so I did it here.
I was contacted by a guy who needs to have his bass fixed (primarily cleaning of electronics).
It turned out that it's a 1975 Precision Bass. What puzzles me is the dual jacks. Is this a modification?
    (Sorry for the blurry picture)

Most probably modified so that the signal can be sent to two separate amps - maybe one is high pass filtered (to replicate a Rickenbacker), maybe each coil has a dedicated output for studio use?

Possibly even a passive, and active output - have you had a look inside?

Yes, its certainly not stock :smug:

Why was it done? The guesses above are as good as any, gotta take a look inside.

I couldn't find any Precison basses on the Internet with two jacks so it'll be interesting to peek under the hood of this one.
The owner has had the bass since 1990 so the modification must have been made in the 80s.

At least the mod was only done to the pick guard and not the actual bass body. You would never know if you put a new PG on it.

But the question is how well the modifation is done and how much of the original is left inside.
Both jacks are crackling a lot and the pots are too but they are both working.
