A 2009 Tokai Hard Puncher has joined the household. It's excellent - great neck, quite light as "P" basses go, and I'm gigging it next week. The body is a two-tone-burst 5-piece, and (as far as I can determine) should be alder. But alder is generally a kind of bland-looking, mild-grained wood, and the dominant darker brown striations here seem atypical. Does anyone have anything comparable?
