Is this Normal?

Stupid question, but is this normal for the truss rod to stick out? Never really noticed it as I play the 5-string basses more often.

Not sure of the make of that bass, but it looks fine.
Now, if while adjusting, the rod starts to worm its way out, you may have a problem.

Likely what you are seeing is not the rod itself, but a bolt or nut to which the adjustment tool inserts or connects. I reckon the fact that it's visible prevents the need for hack luthiers and techs trying to rummage around inside, using the wrong tool, etc. if the adjustment nut were recessed. I know there might be a proper name for the visible part, but cannot recall it for the life of me.

BTW, is that a Fodera YinYang model, perhaps earlier generation? The ones on their website do not necessarily look like yours, but whaddoiknow??

Thanks, my Fodera Emperor has no truss rod sticking out. Never noticed it before though on the YYS until last week. The YYS is first generation, the original that came out.

Only the YYS model has that t.r. metal adjustment part sticking out at the bottom of the neck. Emperor standards have normal (usa fender style) trus rod accsess at the heel.
