Is this normal?

ive noticed that when i play a note on the 3rd and 5th frets of the E and A strings..that the G string vibtates and u can hear it in the amp...umm does this always happen or and i doing something wrong that is causing this?

It's normal. It's called sympathetic vibration. It's a problem that you need to solve by muting the offending string.

so i guess i should practice muting them by pressing down on the string on the fingerboard while im playing a note on one of the strings

You don't necessarily have to press the offending string down - just touching it with any of your unused fingers (either left or right hand) should be enough to shut it up.
