Is this thing on?

Thanks for letting me in.

I'm back into the world of Bass after a bit of a hiatus. My oldest son just pulled bass for his school band, so I'm in the market for a 1/8 to round out the 3/4 I already have.

This sparked an interest I haven't felt in a long while. I haven't touched an electric bass in four years, nor played a fretted in over 20, since I sold off my '78 4001 (I wish I had that back).

I decided it was time to have some fun. I just wanted something to kick around with a nice growl, so I was looking for frets. I found the new Rics a tad more expensive than the $369 I paid (w/case) on 48th street 30 years ago, so nostalgia is out the window. :crying:

I never was interested in Fender back in the day, so I felt the need to check one out. Spent a few hours in a local shop working my way through the selection of Mexican, then Japanese, firmly remembering why I was never interested in Fender. Feeling a bit discouraged, I was about to split...until I grabbed (and almost dropped) an American P from the top rack.

The damn thing never left my hands until it was in the car. Now I know what all the hype was about. :hyper:

So, what have I missed?
