I'm looking for a cabinet that has a 1x15 and some extra smaller speakers in it. Vintage-y tone preferred. The Mesa Boogie 1516 looks really appealing but I'm wondering if there's anything out there these days that's affordable and much lighter. Any ideas? I'd prefer not to use multiple cabs. Appreciate any input.

You don't need a multi-way cab for vintage. Descriptions of the 1516 seems to imply more of a HiFi sound.

You can achieve that tonal goal without that particular speaker configuration,
or is it important to you for other reasons?
Thanks for the suggestions. In case you can’t tell which I think you can I’m not too sure exactly what I’m looking for. I like the lows of a 15 but want to be sure I’m keeping plenty of mids and highs. It always seemed like having a combination of speakers would help with that but I realize I’m missing some big aspects of physics.
To be more specific, I do want vintage warmth. I have a pj bass with seymour Duncan pickups voiced after their 60s era. I love the sound of motown bass but also want to be able to play rock as well. The curveball is I’m thinking about utilizing my hx stomp pedal to emulate some different amp sounds and finding a very transparent amp (currently looking a EA iAmp 600) and achieving most of my amp sound from the hx while the cabinet is universal for all settings. Maybe that’s helps.
Also @walterw I saw your thread on no load ungrounded blend and I’m gonna attempt to cut the traces this week on a couple pots. I got a bourn 250k mn blend and some Alpha 100k mn blends to try my hand at. The bourns seem like better quality than the alphas. Did you ever find out if the 100k made a big improvement in usable sweep over a 250k?
