It sounds like explosions...

They're buddies of mine. The bassist just passed by my place earlier today to pick up my 8x10. Their CD release party is tomorrow night and he just blew a speaker in his cab trying out a new bass through it.

Anyways, the bomb sound is actually just strings tunned to flab.

Most of the time Nunez is tuned to standard but for bomb songs he drops the lowest string to flab. Not any particular note, just flab.

The guitarist use a tunning based off of standard but with the lowest string being dropped to A (Aadgbe). I forgot exactly what they tune to for bomb songs but its something like ZAadf#b. where Z is just flab.

As for fuzz, he uses a standard black Russian Muff. He used a Blue Beard for a short while but preffered the Muff so I picked it up off him.

As for what kind of bass he plays, he's been playing a Warmoth Jazz with EMG's for a long time. Im pretty sure its a mahogany body with a maple neck and pau ferro fret board. He just picked up a bass with an aluminum neck but I cant remember the brand.

Keep an eye out for their new album Meanderthal. Its a really sick album.

Aha! I pre-empted this, and Juan has now posted it to Europe!:smug:

:eek:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

A surprising new development!

I was just fiddling around a few minutes ago and this happened: My bass was tuned to EADG, I turned on a really thick heavy distortion, and bumped the back of the neck with the palm on my fretting hand, and it made a rather similar sound.

I immediately rushed to my computer to post this haha.

They rocked it last night. It was a seriously sick show.

I was talking to the guys some more and found out that the company making their new aluminum axes is the Electrical Guitar Company.

I was right between the bass and the non aluminum guitar rig and got a good listen to the bass' tone... it was huge! Really solid in every sense of the word. Big and punchy with tons of sustain. It just roared. Its an Aluminum neck with a mahogany body, emg J pickups and an EMG pre amp. That thing really impressed me, there was definetly bite and high end in there but it wasnt the overly metalic klang I was expecting. I guess all that mass really gave it some low end. Nice neck but definetly wider than a J. Very easy to manage though.

Juan's guitar was from the same company but all aluminum. His had a flat neck that again, was really nice. I wasnt pointed right at his rig so I didnt get the best chance to check out its tone, but I could definetly hear him enough to say that it had plenty of cut and presence.

Oh, if you guys get a look at the bass rig and see an RBI and QSC up there say hi to my amp and say a prayer for his SVT which must be outta commision.
