Italia Straps with Strap Locks?

Hello Talkbass!

So I'm considering upgrading all of the strap buttons on my bass(es) with strap locks, but I currently use a thick strap (Italia Straps). Are they compatible? Which strap locks work best with thick straps like Italia Straps? Any suggestions if I plan to constantly take the strap on/off using strap locks?

Thanks!

i use this setup, i have a leather backed italia strap and dunlops. tho, i do not recommend a leather backed strap because it slides off my shoulder and forces me to fix it halfway through a song. i thought it was a good idea to be able to have less friction but it's not. go with suede.

you might also run into a problem installing the male end because the italia straps are very thick. i had to open the hole a little (with a knife in a circular motion) and remove a bit of leather from the opening. then, insert the male part and use the washer to help push it through enough to pop in the "u" shaped piece. you will not have to remove nearly enough material to cause any problems.

don't use any other straplocks, dunlops are the best!

I've recenty purchased 4 inch leather/suede backed straps from Italia. I use Dunlop Dual Design strap locks. No cutting on the strap is needed. I just used needle nose pliers. Hope this helps :)
