I've been seeing more and more pick players

been absorbing deep purple this morning(among other bands from my high school years),,doesn't seem to be a problem for Roger Glover

i like two stlyes of picks a thin Dunlop that i centerpunch with a small phillips screwdriver for gription(can't state the model # or material but they're thin transparent blue guitar picks and a Clayton triangle,thin as well,,,can't say it's the thinnest they make but the material is unique(gription),,,love those and intend to try some more from Clayton,odd deal is a pal tossed a couple at me he bought in Santa Cruz Cal and Clayton is based HERE in Southern Oregon,i've bought all sorts sizes brands,modded them,,,never liked them,i've used old worn quarters

i also DO pull out a guitard twice a month as well so those eviel picks are`around'
hey when you have to tape up a couple finger tips due to cuts burns splits=your finger picking DOES lose it's finesse,,anyway,fingered a J last night then picked on a P with a Clayton=i loved it both ways(yeehaw!)

Personally I love the sound of finger playing. I only use a pick due to the fact I play guitar too, but it frustrates me because I don't like the sound of a pick on the bass but I play more clear and concise when use one. I'm practicing so that I can eliminate the pick altogether.

If it sounds good, you're doing it right. If that means using a pick, your fingers, your thumb, your knuckles, or a drumstick, it doesn't matter. A drill motor would probably be a little over the top, but besides that, whatever works.

I recently got in with a new band, and played six hours before they noticed I was using a pick. It's all in your technique.

I usually only play fingers, when I'm just too lazy to dig out a pick. hrb

i dont use a small plastic tool for picking, i use finger nails,thumb,plucking,i also roll back and forth between thumb and opposite side of my palm for a muted quick thump(similar sound to putting a hair-tie around your 0-1 fret) anything that gets the job done with satisfaction is "a bassist".
