I've found it! The best double-sided tape for Pedals......

My guitarist put me on to this stuff and I just used it to secure the pedals in my pedal board. Damn this stuff is good. I can hold my pedal board upside-down and shake it and nothing moves, but I can still remove the pedals without damaging them or the board:-

It's made by 3M under the "Scotch" brand, and the packaging says "Exterior Mounting Tape (Super Strong)", catalogue number 4011.

The packaging is mostly red and has a picture of someone sticking house numbers to a brick wall. The tape itself is grey and uses red plastic backing that you peel away.

If you're not happy with your current arrangement for holding pedals in place, I highly recommend you give this a try.

That's works, but I've always had trouble getting the stuff to stay attached to the pedals for an extended period of time.

Velcro is sometimes too strong. Pulling up the carpet which most pedalboards have.


I've got 4, 1 inch strips of velcro holding my Whammy to my pedalboard... and it takes a huge amount of force to pull it off. Pries the wrapped carpet right up...


Kinda is a flaw on my pedalboards part (A Pedalpad), but still.

The trick to using velcro is to not use too much of it. A small rectangle on the top and a small rectangle on the bottom is enough to attach the pedal and keep it from shifting.

Using too much "permanently" sticks the pedal onto the loop side. That's why the adhesive on the velcro will give, because it's trying to pull against the design of the velcro.

Of course, this being said, I haven't used a pedal board in a long time, and these days just prefer to set out my pedals onstage or on the floor.

The heavy duty Velcro you can get in the hardware store has great adhesive. When I re-use it I just add a layer of normal two sided carpet tape. For the fuzzy side that goes on the pedal board I usually reinforce each corner with staples angled in from the corner toward the center. I've mounted a heavy volume pedal this way and it stayed on just fine.
