J pickup installation?

Hi,
I have been looking lately for a Fender P bass with P and J pickups (preferably with a J-style neck, though that's optional). I had a trade deal for one which fell through due to some stupidity on my fault, and am now looking at other options. What I'm looking for now is advice. If I were to buy a P bass used or new (either a Mexican or a Highway One, depending on how much I can move my old bass and some other items for) and install a J pickup in the bridge, how much would that cost me? Should I have someone else do it for me, or try and do it myself? Is it even reasonable to try and do something like this? Let me know if you've got advice or etc, thanks

You can actually piece something like that together pretty easily. Warmoth doesn't charge extra for certain routing, so you could buy an in-stock p bass body with a jazz pickup at the bridge for around $165. You can get Jazz necks for around 100 on ebay, and then just spend extra on the pickups, bridge, and tuners. Do it yourself, and have patience with finding deals on individual parts, and you can build exactly the bass you want for under 500.
