My all time killer bass tone.
Find a bootleg of Cream Live at Oakland 1968.
Jack's. playing and singing, are over the top.
Best version of Sunshine Of You Love, and Spoonful I've ever heard.
Insane.

I still prefer the "clunky" Cream...raw, energy, playing without a net, etc.
Today's versions of those tunes...it just sounds "tidy" & safe.

sorry... i GREATLY prefer the old super versions.

now, they're just going through the motions. yeah, it's still good, but if you want to really know Cream, you have to go listen to the old stuff.

I recommend firstly, Cream Mive Volume 2 (cd only) + a DVD copy of the Cream Reunion concert in 2005.

That way you get the doco that comes with it and you get to hear the vintage EB3 and Marshall combo compared to the Warwick Thumb and Hartke amp set up.

The other interesting thing is how much he changed the bass lines from one era to the other. Interesting stuff.
