Jaco. He was such an innovator and took bass to places it hasn't been, but I never get psyched to throw on a Jaco record.

Look at it this way, does it really matter? Both of their contributions to the instrument speak for themselves. How about we just dig and listen to both of them as they each have their own voice on the bass, and bassworld is certainly better off because of that!........B2

Both Victor and Jaco were/are great. But mostly to their peers, you and I. The masses, if you will, gravitates toward more pop, R&B, funk, MOR, easy listening, blues, metal, funk, and that gargle with draino before you sing stuff out there. So it's six in one hand, half a dozen in the other when you compare the two. They're both imitated but not duplicated....IMHO
