Jaguar choices

Being budget minded needs to be under 1k, the closer or lower than 500 (USD) the better.

Is the price point difference worth it? 3 choices I am looking at:

Ibanez TMB100 vs Squier Jag vs MIM Jag

As far as I can tell there is no MIA Jag?

I don't have a music store anywhere near me I can try these out for myself and the net leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to comparisons.

There is a Fender Am. Std. Jaguar bass. I think it was only available in 2015. I have one that was bought for my 50th birthday by 'er indoors. It's fantastic.

One on reverb: Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass 2015 3 Color Sunburst - Sold, but it shows you what's out there.

Thanks for finding that Thud. With it being only a one year run and me wanting a Jag or PJ nao it doesn't help with the "save and get a MIA" thought line. So still considering the 3 options, Ibanez TMB 100, Squier PJ or MIM Jag. I could just get the Ibanez for 200 USD and start looking ahead for something to popup.

Also try the Ibanez TMB300. Sounds amazing.

Player jaguar was impressive, as was the squier ss that I tried. I personally liked the simplicity (no switches.) I've heard mixed reviews on that squier 34", about the bass boost, but I figure you can always disable it if it's not working for you.
The Squier Vintage Modified Special with the bass boost was an odd beast. It could be tamed, however. It just took a little finagling. I'd bought my son one, and it played beautifully (every time I went in his room I'd pick it up and play it).

The Player series Jaguar does intrigue me.

Yeah I am avoiding an SS, I have 2 right now (Epi EB0 and Hofner Igni, though the Hofner feels longer than that) as I am 6'1" and playing while seated get's awkward wrist crunch on the Epi.

Same here, just not sure if the nearly 500 USD difference is enough of a quality difference to distance the MIM over the Ibanez. Also I just found the Ibanez Mezzo SRMD200 but I have no idea what a Mezzo bass is and while it has PJ arrangement it lacks the jag body style that I like.

If you like the budget-friendly Talman TMB 100 or 300, you might want to take a look at the TMB 600.
It's $550 but worth every penny...active/passive switch and Nordstrand pickups. The difference between this one and the other Talmans is obvious once you play one.

Beat you to it, check the post directly above yours! :) but thanks, took me some time to find the 600, I had been pretty set on the 3 original choices but the 600 5 string is another 50 USD I can deal with. Funny how everything is just that little bit more and it's never ending, like my current choice in bass amps. Getting the Rumble 500 which is a stretch above what I would like to pay and yet if I started a thread and mentioned that someone would surely say "well the 800 is SO much better and only another 200 USD just do it mane"...

Second time today someone beat me to the punch!
Good luck with it.

Most of the time I do not follow the advice that Biggbass has just given you and most of the time I regret it.

I made my choice already, thanks though. As pointed out by Thudd above the american made fender jag was only produced in 2015 so getting one looks very scarce. I can live with my choice for a year or longer until I come across one, or by then have moved on to other pastures. It's not a Fender vs knockoffs issue for me. I just didn't want to spend an extra near 500 USD on a MIM and have been happy with the 200 USD TMB100. So I chose the TMB600, which only saves me 100 USD over the MIM, and it wasn't the savings I was after in this case. Does the MIM really have better parts and craftsmanship than the Ibanez? I do have to doubt that.

Already ordered the TMB600 and I decided to flip back to the 4 string.
