Japanese Jazz Bass - Replacing Pickups -

Hi all -

I have an 80's MIJ Fretless Jazz Bass. It's noisy as heck. I'm interested in replacing the Single Coil Pickups with Hum-Cancelling Pickups, but not sure what (1) sounds good and (2) fits in the guitar... Also (3) I'm interesting in keeping the bass passive - I don't want to put in an active circuit...

If anybody here has been down this path and has any recommendations, I'd be thrilled to hear 'em.

I would also consider Nordstand. Norstrand offers a hum cancelling PU that will fit. Their stuff is top notch.

Even Dimarzio model J ought to work for you. A little more of an "attitude" pickup.

I use the Duncan STK-J's and they sound quiet and have a great tone also...Not too pricey either.
Just a thought.

Duncan has hot and vintage stacks. Should find something workable between them.

This just in: Ultra Jazz Pickups placed in MIJ Fender Jazz Fretless. Man, they're great! Very quiet. Thanks again for the suggestions and help...

Now it's onward to repair the other little things on this bass...
