I know it's a cheap bass. My former guitar player gave it to me years ago. I'm mostly an upright player, though, but lately I've been getting into electric and this is what I've got. A) what's it a copy of? And B) what are each of the knobs for (i got the volume figured out ).
I like it the least of all the basses I've owned, lol, and I've got the itch to buy a new one. Thanks for the help!

Jay Turser JTB-3, first introduced in 2003. That model was offered in either regular scale (34") or short scale (30.5"). I recall people saying the long scale had considerable neck dive.

The body is actually smaller than either the Douglas or the Ibanez, although the overall shape is similar.h

Pickup selector switch - neck PU | both PUs| bridge PU.
One volume and one tone pot for each pickup.

So the pickup switch is mute for the middle setting, which I assume should be a blend of both pickups. Is this something I could fix on my own? (I'm pretty handy) or should I take it into a shop? I don't really want to put too much money into it because I know it's not worth much

Changing a switch or por on a hollow or semi- hollow body can be tricky. You have to do the fish line trick.

I know these are inexpensive, but I have a JTB-134 in flame natural and I love it. Nice playing bass and easy on the eyes.

i know this is an old thread, but do you still have this Turser? I’ve been trying to buy one for sentimental reasons/I love it.

This is my favorite bass and my first and is a tank. Got it 23 years ago. The two humbuckers and tone knobs make it really versatile in tones. Comfortable short scale, smaller body and 24 frets! Had to have the bridge fixed to it, but even the intonation isn't that much of an issue. Play it with overdrive and it has a killer, controlled feedback. I think it was meant to mimic the Gibson EB2 or the Warwick semi hollow with it's sharper cutaways. And it was under 300 dollars. That and my 1969 EB3 are my faves. Get it whenever you can find it!

I was asking 275 usd for it locally. But I'm negotiable with the price. (You'll have to cover the shipping fees. I'm in western PA) I'll get some new pictures in the morning for you. It's in great shape. I think I've used it two, maybe three times. I picked it up just before covid. I wanted to get something i could practice with, without an amplifier and an acoustic is just too big.
