Jazz Bass Buzz

So after shielding and grounding the inside of my jazz bass, I get less hum, but the hum completely goes away when I touch the control plate. Touching the strings, bridge, or pickups poles has no effect on the buzz, just touching the control plate, which make the buzz absolutely gone.

Any suggestions?

Make sure that you have a good connection pot/control plate grounds to your shielding. For example bring some shield material up the side and under the hold down screw.

I verified that I do. If I plug in the bass with the control plate out and touch the shielding, it has the same action as touching the control plate the buzz completely disappears.

The grounds should all be the same here. The pots are grounded, connected to the negative pickup leads, connected to each other, connected to the bridge ground and connected to the ring connector of the input jack. Is the input jack somehow insulated from the control plate? It doesn't make sense that the control plate would be a better ground than the bridge or strings...

The ground wire had somehow become dislodged from under the bridge and was free in the channel between it and the control cavity. Now the buzz is when I touch the strings or not, which is standard buzz I guess.

That's still a grounding issue.
