I am building my own cigar box bass and I would like to wire it with two passive jazz bass pickups. However, I know very little about how to wire them. I would like a volume pot for each pickup, but that's all I really need. I think (but am not sure) that because these are passive I will need some type of preamp. Any help (wiring diagrams, advice) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't need a preamp. Common wiring is volume/volume/tone, or volume/blend/tone. If you want only two controls, you could wire them directly in parallel to just one volume pot and then a tone pot, but them both pups operate at equal output. You could get a dual concentric pot for volume so you can individually operate the volume of each pot, then add a tone pot.
