Jazz Neck Pickup Problem

I don't know if the PUs on your bass are single coil or humbucking but the only thing I can think of would be that they are humbucking (side by side) and there is a cold solder joint on the section for the D and G strings. The only way I can see this happening for a single coil pickup is for the magnets to have gone bad for those strings and that would be VERY unlikely.

For a cold solder joint a HOT soldering iron and a QUICK reheat with a very little solder added should fix it. I've seen several PUs with this problem over the years. More Fenders than others.

Thanks for the info.. I will try that. The pickups are not stock Fender. I know that for sure. The covers say Sadowsky on them so I guess the guy I bought the bass from put them in at some point
