Double Bass Jazz Strings for Stagg EDB

Hi all!

I'm looking for a good set of strings to put on my Stagg EDB, as the ones currently on there (stock, I presume) sound a bit too metallic and are a bit loose for my liking. I literally never use a bow on my EUB, as my acoustic handles the classical side of things very nicely, so would only really need strings suited for pizzicato playing.

Does anybody have any suggestions for some strings that would work on an EDB and give me that classic upright jazz sound?

I have a set of Presto Balance Hybrid Mediums on one Stagg, nice pizz and with the bow, more tension than the stock strings. My personal preference might be a little bit lower tension (like the same string set in the light version).
On the other one I currently have Presto Jazzicato (with a Jazzicato Tungsten A), too less tension for my taste (similar to gut), don't work with the bow. More for roots music than jazz, I think. I might try something else like the Innovation Braided or Spiro Weich 4/4 or downtuned Solo 4/4 if I had a spare set.
If I had a set I might even try Flexocore DeLuxe or Passione, maybe also Jargar.

You won't get a real upright sound with the Stagg, but using damped arco steel core stings might get you close (without the resonance of a double bass).
Because of the high stretching of synthetic core strings (less on Innovations) and the thinner and narrower peg, I probably would avoid synthetic core strings (maybe with the exception of Innovations that are very robust).
Because of the long underlength not all 3/4 strings might fit.

I've tried the original strings, Presto Balance, Spiro Mittel and Evah Pirazzi Weich on my Staggs. I like the last the most. Not too high tension, not too much sustain and not too metallic.

The reason why I didn't recommend the Evah Pirazzi Weich is that they stretch a lot, so more string needs to be wound on the short peg which might get difficult depending how you want to wind the string onto the peg (completely or only a few windings). I would rather recommend the Innovation Braided which are similar but with less stretching and being more robust.
