First off I am in no way a luthier, there is no forum for 'Bass Mods'. Anyways I got a project bass on CL a year ago I have been wanting to do something with:

The bass was made in Japan (likely 70's or 80's) and is PJ style with a Jazzzz neck.

I have been GASing for a Stingray for a while so here is the premise of the mod:

There will be a MM style pickup in neck and bridge position, each with a series/split/parallel switch along with a P pickup in the sweet spot. The MM pickups will have a balance and the P pickup will have a single volume pot. The bass will also feature a stingray style 2 band EQ (and who knows, maybe even Ric style dual outputs....).

It will have a pickguard and either an aluminum or steel control plate, the pickguard I have not decided on the color for yet.

lol both of those are way over my price range. I'll just stick with the cheapo Chinese humbuckers ;)

Ive made a few by cutting the tabs off of one side of Jazz covers and gluing them together, then reversing the polarity of one coil with a couple neo mags, and wiring them in seriea by connecting the positives together. This makes both coils RWRP.

Just "finished" the schematic if anyone is interested. As far as I can tell it's solid, but there are much smarter people than me on here who could find a flaw: (I am not plotting out the active EQ yet as I have no idea what to expect from a $10 eq from China)(also the both the "Ground" labels are the output jack ground).

UPDATE:

I have decided black will do for the pickguard as I already have the paint and it overwelmingly won the poll.
But more importantly:
I have finished the routing for the pickups! (more detailed photos to come)

Also I have all of the parts except for the metal plate and the switches, so this should be finished by the end of March (progress has been slow do to work....)
