JC Basses Snakewood Fretless 4

I use the Minwax "Tung Oil" which is a blend of tung oil among other things. Then I use Minwax Paste Finishing Wax. Just rub it on with a smooth cloth and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Then buff it out to a shinny and smooth finish. Easiest by far of any finish I've done.

The finish is done and I am working on assembly right now. Still waiting on knobs and string through ferrules. I forgot how much I love the sound of flatwounds on an unfinished ebony fingerboard...

This is looking good! Sorry you had to change out the snakewood fretboard. BTW, how were you planning on attaching it; I have been told by fellow woodworkers that snakewood is difficult to glue adequately due to the oils in the wood. I had wanted to do it on my custom 7 string I am building (thought it would pair well with the Koa top, but alas no go.

I am actually waiting on some black screws that are slightly smaller and their head will fit right into the countersunk hole I made, but good eye!

I did have it glued on for awhile on this bass and I had to take it off that neck. Part of the reason was that it didn't glue very well. It was nearly perfect, but I couldn't sell it if there was even a hint of a glue line. I've heard of people using rubbing alcohol to lift the oils from it, but I've never tried it.

It is a "fake" waterfall/stream thing at my parents house leading into their pool. California weather it pretty nice, it rained a few times last week though. Haha.

Thank you everyone. Yes I do put a cloth underneath the bass. I will put a sound clip or video up when I finish the electronics. I am waiting on a few parts before I can finish that.

Very pretty!!
The body shape looks quite alembic- ish, but I like it better than the alembics it has "borrowed" the body shape from .It is more understated which I like.
