Jeff Tweedy rips on the bass

Sure, he's an incredible songwriter, skilled guitarist, singer and leader of one of the most important and creative American bands of the last 20 years (Wilco), but... he's a ripping bassist, to boot.
I know, he played bass in Uncle Tupelo a long time ago, but the stuff he plays on his most recent solo record, Sukierae, is just sweet. Tone, time and space.

I am thinking the bassist is Darin Gray, a great bassist from Edwardsville, IL which is the area where Tweedy is originally from. Darin is a product of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's music program, and has studied with Tom Kennedy too. I take lessons from him when I can. He is also Tweedy's touring bassist and a Lakland endorser.

yeah, like domdec314 said, Darin Gray is the touring bassist for the band. I've seen the band a few times, and he is a fantastic player as well.
