Double Bass Jersey City / NYC Rental

I'm an electric player considering picking up upright for some gigs (Oktoberfest, acoustic sessions, etc) and I'm looking for somewhere I can rent a 3/4 bass to try. Ideally in the Jersey City / Northern NJ area, but I could go into NYC if there's a place that's exceptional. I want something nice enough to not discourage me from keeping with the instrument but not so good it's outrageously expensive.

Also, any tips for living in an apartment with an upright? I have the space for it but I'm concerned about volume more than anything. Thanks!

I think many people still get short-term rentals here.

You may find useful advice here for the "playing at home" thing. I had more trouble when I was living in Jersey City than anywhere in the five boroughs, FWIW.

Long term rental? I don't do rentals, just repairs and sales, but know a guy in JC that does some rentals

Yeah long term rental, I'm housesitting in Queens late Jan-Early April so I could also look for something in that area versus renting in JC and hauling it over. But I'll finally have space and time to be bad at it for a little while and not bother anyone, so I'm gonna take advantage!

Just a thought - rentals are expensive but basses hold or increase their value if you look after them - if you can find the money upfront it will work out much cheaper to buy one and sell it on if you choose to...

@Craig Akin has some basses for rent in JC that I know of. Also I have some basses for sale in Brooklyn if you get the bug!

Geoff Morrow, a very straight up decent guy, and a fine bassist. He's in Yonkers, first town N of the city, reachable by public transportation.
