JMH Mustang - Gauge for Chromes

Hi Justin - love your work and about to be an owner of a JMJ Mustang! I am excited. I have a question about strings. I use "medium" Chromes on my P basses (50-105) but I see the JMJ is factory strung with 45-100 Fenders. Would you recommend going with the "light" Chromes, which are 45-100 (i.e. stay with that gauge), due to the shorter scale length? If I change them, that is. Thanks!

Yeah...for the right tension, get medium scale Chromes. And I believe there's only one gauge for those. The set is called ECB81M. But if you want to go real dark and vintage, still with lots of punch, def get the La Bella 760F-MUS.

Got it! So "light" gauge, medium scale (in my world, 45-100 is medium gauge, but not in the Chromes world!). Definitely will check out those La Bella's. Thanks so much for the reply!!

EDIT: Oooh, and I think I will like the gauge range on the La Bella's - the G is slightly thinner, but the E is slightly fatter (that's the part I like)

Well, I put Chromes on it and really prefer them over the 9050s so far, which is odd since I thought 9050s were very similar. Perhaps the 9050s that come stock are a lighter gauge (I'm heavyhanded!)?
