John Myung playing fretless

The Once in a Livetime DVD has a few tracks from the show they did "acoustically" in Rotterdam where he plays some pretty tasty fretless lines. However, I don't think he would be regarded as an amazing fretless player. I suppose you could check out his work with Platypus as it may have some solid fretless stuff on it. It has a very cool one note groove which he pulls off without what some would say is his trademark flare.

Yes he played a fretless on Through Her Eyes from the album Scenes From A Memory. You can see it on Live Scenes From New York DVD. And yes, hez no Jaco on fretless, but on frets hez truly a monster! Amazing bassist, and HUGELY under-rated. Max respect!

I guess I'm missing all the stuff that he uses fretless on. I'm a sometimes fan of Dream Theater.

Thread Hijack Warning:
<thread hijack>Now I wonder why it is that the coolest bass part on their latest DVD was actually recorded by Mike Portnoy. John is hardly in the whole DVD of them recording. You'd think he required a dark room, and for everyone to turn their back so he could play his bass or something...</thread hijack>

:rollno:

You don't mean his main do you? because if so, you are incorrect.

but if you mean that's the fretless he used, then, I've never seen any pics, but that doesn't mean it's not true.

No, Ali is correct about his fretless.

And yes, hez no Jaco on fretless, but on frets hez truly a monster! Amazing bassist, and HUGELY under-rated. Max respect!

Woah lyk rly? OMG lol no wai!11!1!!!!11!

As far as I'm concerned he's one of those guys who plays fretless bass as a bit of a novelty. Not that great at it, and not a great deal different to listening to him on a fretless bass. Which if you think about it, is a great horror.
