Not to detract from Jule's great customer service, but ... Have you contacted that "other" preamp designer-builder and asked him to fix the clip lights? If your experience is anything like mine was, he'll do it for free, even though you didn't buy yours new. And he'll make other upgrades you didn't even know you needed. You just have to pop for the shipping.

I haven't but the 'other' unit has been my main working unit for the past year, since I got it...and I haven't had the desire to ship it off to anyone for a prolonged visit. Once I'm up and running with the Monique, maybe that will be my next step. I have Les' phone number in my PM file somewhere.

The "other", huh?
I don't think Moni gets jealous.
Why would she with what she's got going on?
Besides, competition from someone named "Kern"?

It's just like her (Kern) to not tell me she had glowing lights.
Now to hear that they didn't function too!!!!
Really some folks don't communicate, then break up with you and then tell someone else.
....and she didn't need them to sound this good!!!!
Frankly, Skies I hope this doesn't harsh our mellow! :):)

As you know, the clip lights never ended up bothering me because I've never heard the Kern sound bad, no matter what the settings are! I figured if I couldn't tell, no use in sending it off for work, beyond just having it done. And as my only preamp for my rig, I didn't want to make the sacrifice of not having it for however long. Once I have Monique in my setup, it will become possible to get that done without any pain.

Well, Chadds and I now have shared TWO different preamps...which may or may not mean that I'll have slept with whatever preamps Chadds' slept with over the years. We seem to have similar taste in 'the ladies' when it comes to tone apparently. Although he seems to get there first. :hmm:
