Just a couple of questions.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I have a couple of questions. TalkBass has been very helpful to me in the past while researching so here it goes.

I'm currently in the market for a new bass amp, preferably and head and cab set up. My current amp (an old Yorkville 200B) looses lots of volume when I play on the G string so I'm looking for a cab that can give equal volumes no matter how low or high I play. I have a budget of about $1500 CAD.

I'm thinking about get an Ampeg SVT-410HE and an Orange Terror BT500H.

My other question is how would I know a head and cab are compatible?

Smooth response up and down the spectrum doesn't come by accident; it takes purposeful design and crossover expertise. You might consider the fEarful 15/6/1.

This was using the Di line out to an interface because the xlr output is far too hot!

Also note that the Di & xlr outputs Volums are Controlled by the Gain Knob, therefore you can turn the master to 7 o'clock (essentially no sound coming out from the cab) while recording.

I would be more inclined to say that if the pickup isnt seeing the G string well, no amount of neo speakers and carefully designed crossovers will fix that. Neither will new amps.
Early Stingray basses had a slight issue there as the G polepiece was offcenter from the G string.
